Head of Department Institutional and Legal Affairs, Europol

Alfredo Nunzi joined Europol in 2001.

As Head of the Institutional and Legal Affairs Department, he is responsible for the Agency’s strategic planning, external relations and legal affairs.

Previously, he served as the Head of Administration in charge of human, financial and logistical resources and as Secretary of the Management Board.

From 1998 to 2001, he was the Director of the Siracusa International Institute for criminal justice and human rights.

From 1990 to 1998, he served as legal officer with the United Nations dealing with international cooperation in criminal matters and technical cooperation activities in the Western Balkans, the Middle East and North Africa.

Alfredo Nunzi holds a degree in law from Universitá degli Studi La Sapienza di Roma and a doctorate in criminal law from Université de Nantes.
